Geof,
Now you actually reduce the strength of your basis. Now it's
essentially just: because they say so. In other words, the threat
of a poor foreigner's prediction is greater than the actions of
our own government (which happens to be the most powerful "force"
in the world) on its own people - right here and right now. FYI,
the drug war is not a threat; it is a quite established reality.
"Threat" was only originally used in the context of when it might
come to get YOU. The drug war has been here for well over 40
years, and is not slowing down. The threat of it coming to get
YOU is not only far greater than a small foreign county's
promise, it is imminent (only a matter of time).
If you forgive all wrongdoers who have good intentions, you
should forgive all terrorists. You forgive DEA agents for causing
massive social harm because they think they are doing good work,
but fail to mention that every Islam terrorist would likely tell
you the same thing (and believe it). It's a common logical
fallacy to defend a wrongdoing (to any degree) on the basis of
underlying good intentions. History is full of every manner of
heinous aggression committed in the name of good intentions. It
is precisely because they (drug warriors) are wrong that makes
them just like terrorists.
And the drug war is precisely meant to scare people. The govt
exploits and embellishes the religious fundamentalism of the
people in order to feed its self. By emphasizing the fear and
intolerance, the govt can better sell itself as the good
protector. It's actually just a protection racket. It's common
knowledge nowadays that govts need enemies for their sustenance,
and if they don't actually have them, they create them. See "drug
war".
Your agents-corruption analogy is seriously flawed (not similar).
Let me improve on it. MOST members of law enforcement spend MOST
of their time chasing drugs and ruining lives of innocent people
(participating in the drug war, as drug warriors). Therefore,
they are NOT analogous to all members of the Islam religion. They
ARE analogous to Islam terrorists. This, by technical definition,
makes them corrupt - by default (not even counting the huge
percent that are on the take, dealing, etc).

{American jurors have complete Constitutional authority to vote
"not guilty" based on nothing more than a disagreement with the
case, no matter the evidence - despite the judge's instructions.
There is absolutely no obligation to vote "guilty" to arrive at a
unanimous verdict. Get on a jury, stand your ground, and fulfill
its other main purpose: to counteract abusive government and
unjust lawsuits.

We may be evolving from the original topic. However, as has been
pointed out, the Islamofascists themselves state they are on a
worldwide jihad. I belive that puts the US square in their
sights.
I also believe that equating the drug war, in all of its
counterproductive foolishness, with terrorism and linking it to
Chrisitanity devalues and dilutes the real definition of
terrorism
which is the deliberate targeting of civilians for the purpose of
causing terror.
While we agree that the drug war is wrong, I, in no way, support
the
position that agents of this campaign are seeking to target
civilians
for the purpose of causing terror. I've worked with the DEA in
the
past and I've discussed the logic of the drug war with agents.
They
believe they are fighting crime and doing good work. Because
they are
wrong does not make them terrorists.
I also believe it is unfair to paint the entire law enforcement
community with the brush of corruption. There are many corrupt
'drug
warriors,' but they are a minority. That attitude is similar to
bashing all Muslims because of the minority of terrorists, which
is
somehting else I do not support.
