Geof,

Another bad analogy, in which you twist the main elements of
cause and effect. Drug laws are NOT analogous to terrorISTS, they
are analogous to the prejudice motive of terrorISM. Of course
drug laws can be changed, but so can prejudices that underlie
terrorism; but one only as easily as the other. Prejudice and
fear (ignorance) are the causes; drug laws and terrorism
(oppression) are the effects. In other words, drug laws and
terrorism are both manifestations of prejudice.

PS: Nowhere have I even hinted that "all law is designed to
inspire terror", nor is that a logical extension of anything I
have said here. It is YOUR extension and logic, not mine.

{American jurors have complete Constitutional authority to vote
"not guilty" based on nothing more than a disagreement with the
case, no matter the evidence - despite the judge's instructions.
There is absolutely no obligation to vote "guilty" to arrive at a
unanimous verdict. Get on a jury, stand your ground, and fulfill
its other main purpose: to counteract abusive government and
unjust lawsuits.

The difference is there is a political process available to
change the
law and end the drug war. There is no political process with
terrorists.

To extend your logic, then all law is designed to inspire terror.
I
disagree with this. A nation living under the rule of law is the
best
form of government we have devised yet, even with all its
imperfections.

The drug war may be bad policy, but to equate it with terroism
devalues the definition of terrorism.
