The popular consciousness that might have squirmed a bit over
the 'cult of omnipotent state' phrase has shifted a lot since govt
has used 911 as pretext to greatly expand its power & boldness; now
people do more 'squirming' over the 'extremism' of the ACTUAL 'cult
of omnipotent state'
