Well Steve, it is the White Mesa Ute Board who hired us. Except for the executive director, all members are from the tribe and reservation. They give the direction, they write the charter. Unfortunately, it was hijacked the Executive Director. That said, I think it save to agree with their charter; set up programs to improve the educational offerings of the community, write grants to bring in funds (corpperate contributers who donated the money to build the Education Center with the approval of the White Mesa Ute Board), develop a relationship with the county school board, set up tutoring services and a GED program, set up a library and computer lab, develop programs for recreation, set up a 12 step program, arrange for vocational training.
Tell me this: with your highly opinionated ideas "to help those poor stupid Indians"... as you call them, and your acknowledgement that you are > "NOT an expert on how Native Americans should think/live/behave." HOW and WHY do you have an opinion AT ALL? HOW can you suggest this approach...being selected by the tribe and following the agenda placed before us that was CREATED by tribal members...is a WRONG APPROACH? Dude, if people are telling you that you are an ass, maybe you have better listen before you go into politics. There are far too many imbeciles running the country as it is.
