And why do we root for that side? SRL: Or maybe because there are far more Israeli's in the US than Lebanese? Could it have something to do with the fact that Israel: Has a relatively Free Enterprise Economy SRL: Huh?? Israel is a VERY socialist country. Is a country of successful Entrepreneurs who don't look to government for hand-outs SRL: Their government is almost entirely dependant upon US handouts just to survive. Has Nude and Topless Beaches SRL: As does Lebanon. Has very Tolerant Laws on Marijuana use SRL: I am admittedly ignorant of both Lebanon's and Israel's drug laws. But, Israel being a theocracy, I seriously doubt the "tolerant drug laws" you claim they have. That aside, I have heard of "blonde Lebanese hash" and have yet to hear of any mind altering substance to come from Israel. Has the Hottest NightLife in the Middle East Has very lax Drinking Laws SRL: As does Beirut, as well as most of northern Lebanon. Versus Muslims countries that are Socialist SRL: As is Israel. FWIW, Lebanon has probably the most ethnically diverse population in the entire middle east (30-40% Shi'a, 20-30% Sunni, about 20% Marronite Christian, 10% other Christian, 5% Druse Muslim, about 5% Jewish and a smattering of Ba'Hai). Have Authoritarian, un-elected Governments SRL: Lebanon has an elected government. And like to Torture and Kill Adulterers, Marijuana users, and even some of those who indulge in Alcohol use SRL: None of which applies to Lebanon. Hmmn? I wonder why we root for Israel? SRL: Because they are our proxies? We are paying heavily for it. At gunpoint even. PEACE Steven R.
