Even with Windows 98, 98lite.net to strip out IE, and using Netscape 4.76

If you can run at 33Kb/s+ over your phone lines, then yes. It's really far
snappier when you can run at the usual 40-45Kb/s using a 56Kb modem.
(of course, internal modems in the US are only <$30 for a good one, like a
Creative Labs Modem Blaster, or $69 for a new Zoom 56Kb modem with improved
V.92 (vs. V90) standards support; externals tend to be much more expensive as
almost nobodys bothers with them now, and speeds tend to be better with
internal models as they don't have to go over the serial port.)
