Maya,

If you've got the hub, you're already there. You don't need a router unless 
you've got either (a) a *lot* of computers (over 250) or (b) you're 
conecting two networks together - which you effectively are when you connect 
your network to the internet using wingate or smoothwall.

Either of these will happily work as your gateway. On my smoothwall system, 
it's set up as a DHCP server which hands out the IP addresses to the other 
machines, and the other machines are set up to use the smoothwall address as 
the default gateway. They get this automagically from the DHCP stuff. I like 
fit-n-forget technology!

Dave needs the hub (I assume) cos he has an RJ45 network connection to ADSL 
or cable modem.
