Ya I know, what I was referring to was that if the resistance is AT LEAST 8 ohms (and from what I've seen anyway most of those little speakers and headphones are close enough to 8, 16 or 32 ohms at DC) then the speaker is fine. I made that point because once I DID have a set of PC speakers which were distorting like crazy, turned out it had shorted somewhere and resulted in less than 1 ohm as the effective load! Of course, if there is an amp involved (that wasn't shorted somehow - again if it was it would also cause distortion as the output amp in the PC started clipping but it'll show up as an unusually low impedance to a DC ohmmeter) then you could be talking a resistance in the kOhms region as far as DC was concerned (or infinity if there were a capacitor involved which is also likely). Hope that clears up what I wrote earlier! - Raymond ************************************************************** http://libretto.basiclink.com - Libretto mailing list http://libretto.basiclink.com/archive - Archives http://www.picante.com/~gtaylor/portable/faq.html - FAQ -------TO UNSUBSCRIBE------- Reply to any of the list messages.
