You can have 3.3V 16bit cards. They are keyed the same way that 3.3V CardBus cards are keyed, but lack the attracive copper dimples. I have several 3.3V 16-bit cards in my pccard collection. The real issue with CardBus is that the 32-bit bus requires a special CardBus bridge. The Libretto L50 has only a PCMCIA bridge, which only supports the 16-bit cards. If you file down the 3.3V 16-bit cards, they will work in a Libretto 70 (and I'm pretty sure a 50 too).
