Is the USB on the EPR so special that through DOS it can't be initialized? If it can, have a look at Dr. Xin's archive or Cool tips sections - there's supposed to be a Panasonic DOS USB driver which allegedly works with many mass storage devices. But beware of the USB type -- UHCI or OHCI (I don't know which one the Libretto EPR features, regarding the period that the Libretto 100/110 were designed I'd guess UHCI)

This would be a really nice say to transfer files a bit faster than a parallel cable, and it's nice to see that USB in DOS may be possible in a Libretto after all. But I'm still left with 1st figuring out what I can use in DOS to copy a large directory tree to a backup drive, and preserve long file names.
I do have an IBM 512MB Microdrive that may qualify either as a USB HDD or a CF flash memory device. Might have a go at that at some point. Thanks for the tips Philip.
Matt
