Hi Philip
From: Philip Nienhuis <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
But in the very next sentence Xin also points to the Inquirer web page where a more in-depth description is presented.
Yeah... that was the URL you pointed to. I did download MHAIRU.ZIP with the drivers USBASPI.SYS and DI1000DD.SYS, put them on a boot FD, and and made a config.sys on it like Xin's leaving the CD-ROM driver's REMed:
dos=high,umb device=himem.sys BUFFERS=20 FILES=60 DEVICEhigh=USBASPI.SYS /P=FF60 devicehigh=DI1000DD.SYS
I plugged my Dazzle ZIO CF adapter with the Microdrive into the EPR USB port, but when I booted the L100 from it, I got these error messages:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ASPI for UHCI/OHCI mass-storage Version 1.07 Copyright ..... USBASPI : Target USB device not found
DI1000 ASPI DISK Driver Ver 2.00 Copyright....
ASPI Manager not installed ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Then I tried changing the switch /P=FF60 to /v /w /e ... but got the same errors
And Xin also mentions an Addonics DOS USB driver (search for DOSboot.exe or so on Addonics, their link to DOS_USB_Boot-4.4 is a 404).
I couldn't find any references to USB_DOS_Driver_v4.4.zip or DOSboot.exe using the Addonics search engine. So I did an advanced Google search on their site, and came up with the download USBBoot.zip that contains a FD image file and rawrite.exe. Even Google didn't come up with any results for: USB_DOS_Driver_v4.4.zip Have't tried the image file yet.
But this quote from the Addonics website points to a BIOS limitation that I think I read references in the Lib list archives:
http://www.addonics.com/support/faqs/usb_troubleshooting_resources.asp
"If your BIOS does not support USB booting, please contact your system or motherboard manufacturers for a possible BIOS upgrade."
The L100's minumal BIOS just may not support USB in DOS through the EPR.
Matt
