Okay... Executing the file lfndos.exe on a floppy gets long file name access. And copying LFN files using either the tilde method or quoting the long file name (" long file name.txt") from C: to A: results in a file on A: with the LFN intact.
But from there on I haven't had much luck. To copy entire folder trees, I'd have to use Xcopy, or some flavor of Xcopy, XXCopy, XXcopy16.. etc. But I haven't had any luck getting them to preserve the LFN. They don't seem to want to hand-shake with lfndos.exe.
I tried downloading a DOS 6.x Dosshell file. Dosshell runs fine, but also seems to ignore the fact that lfndos.exe is loaded.
