You might want to do a search for a Toshiba SG 20 or SG 30. This is a small box from Toshiba that you can find very cheap on eBay. It would do all that you want and more, There is also a very active SG 20 group on Yahoo. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/magnia_sg20/ The DSL modem would connect to the SG 20, or SG 30 by way of a RJ45 connector. And the SG 30 would connect to your other computers. The SG 30 has a 7 port wired switch built in. You can plug in an YDI Diamond Card (or Orinoco), and have a wireless home network. The SG 10/20/25/30 are Linux based, but come with a web based management page, so you don't need to understand Linux to get them to work. The SG series will support a printer, that can be shared over the network, as well as a built in hard drive that can be shared over your home network.

The SG 30 would take the IP address that your DSL modem would provide, and use NAT to connect up to 200 additional PC to that address. It comes with a number of built in servers to serve everything from documents, to pictures, to music, to web pages and mail over your home network.

Subject: How to share broadband with a home network ?

We've finally made the leap to broadband signing up for the Verizon $29.95/month deal with a year's commitment. But I see I have to order something for free from Verizon that will set up home networking to allow all systems to share the DSL connection.

I've set up basic networking with my desktop and a couple of my Librettos. But it seems broadband is going to require each system to have it's own unique IP address.

Has anyone gone through that process? I'm wondering if I can just go ahead and figure out how to do it manually, and not wait for Verison to send anything more. Or does Verizon have to set up IP addresses for each of the systems here at home before I can get them all online together?

Thanks for any input.

Matt
