Hi

I believe you can do it manually? Your Provider (Verizon)
assign you IP Address using DHCP, which assign IP's automaticlly.
If, you want a static IP, I believe they charge a little more
on your montly bill.

Now, on your side of the DSL connection, if want to split
the connection you need a 4 port Router or a wireless Router
(its a 4 port Router with a AP in one housing).
Router run from $40 bucks and up, (here in SoutherCalif)

Once you connect your DSL modem to the router using a
CAT 5 cable (comes with router). You can now connect up to 4
computers if you have a 4 port Router, more with a wireless Router.
If, you need more than 4 wired computer, you would connect a CAT 5
cable to one of the router port and the other end to a 4 or 8,16,32
port Switch.

Now, you can go into the router setup by going to your browser
and type 192.168.0.1 (# may vary?),you can setup Static IP Addresses
or DHCP IP Addresses (which assign them automaticlly), NAT, FireWall
(mostly all Router have hardware firewalls built-in)
You also need to go to each computer NIC Card Properties to put in
the Static IP Address or click on DHCP.
