Hi James, I think the current consensus is "we can take this as default
behavior". There is also the "being able to change the defaults easier
would be nice". That's reasonable, but independent enough that we should
not halt the main issue. I am currently rather exhausted from all the
Postscript/PDF nonsense and also want to try for another conference in
Poland. I don't think I'll manage adding configurability in time for the
next unstable release, and we should at least have the new defaults up for
testing and comments. So I'd rather see this on countdown, even though I
acknowledge the desirability of better configurability (but we did not have
it before, either).
