I wrote to 30 professional guitarists, simply asking what they'd prefer:
the old or the new version, attaching the images of
input/regression/tablature-full-notation.ly from comment #38
I've got 5 replies so far, _all_ prefering the new one!

Introducing sth like `(((0 . ,DOWN) . -2)) is a great idea.
