The problem is that I didn't think to look into dead grobs to get their
prebroken pieces, which is my bad. I assumed that if a grob was dead, that
meant that none of the information on the inside of it could be useful, so
I discarded it. But insofar as it is a pointer to other grobs, it is
useful.
So problem solved (I think)...
