This one is my biggest beef too. I'm writing a book, and my publisher
uses Word DOT templates for all annotations. Has anyone here tried using
Word97 under VMWare ? If that worked I'd at least not have to reboot
just to work on my book, and I could simultaneously review my work in
Linux. I'm currently in my "Gee, I hate Windows" mode and would love to
dump it entirely (at least the reboots anyway).

I think that's what my brother is using for his family geneology
project. There are some Linux apps that do the same thing, right ? But I
take it that your problem is with file formats ?

Did you sign the petition to Apple for Linux Quicktime ? Last I looked
there were more than 2000 signatures. Check Slashdot's old news for
details.
And I agree, RealPlayer 7 is pretty neat !
