xanim is what I usually use for movies, but it seems like most of the
current news sites and whatnot are moving to the newest QuickTime,
with the streaming video stuff, which is useless to me. RealPlayer
works in about 80% of these situations though, so I'm not as worried
about this.

Framemaker isn't a word processor; it's a layout program. It works
great when you have hundreds of pages of text you need to put into
book, zine, or newspaper format, but its editing properties are
marginal at best. That said, I love Framemaker for Windows and used
to use it at work and for my old zine, so if I ever do another zine, I
will probably buy a copy. For simple word processing, I use
WordPerfect for Linux. When I absolutely have to use Word (like I
recently wrote chapters for a Macmillan book) I try to keep it in
emacs or WP as long as possible, and then bring it over to Word.
