I'm not the one who programmed Eudora, can't pin that on me. And to my credit, I think I milked Eudora for as far as I could.
However, your last comment raises a topic I've been wondering about - should we continue the list? There seems to be plenty of people subscribed, but I suspect people just collect messages into their Lingo box so they can search on them in case there's ever a question. For every few who unsubscribe we also pick up some new subscribers, so it seems about even.
The list gets an insane amount of spam, though - not that you see it here - but the mailbox of rejected posts is huge. Some might be valid newbies trying to post to the list, but I just can't read through it anymore to help them format the posts properly like I used to - it would take all day, since 99.99% of the rejects are spam.
The actual activity of the list has slowed; in part because there are other resources, in part people just are more knowledgeable, and in good part people have moved to Flash. So, in a way, the list was a success - we helped people learn about Lingo - but there are many resources out there now, and people can often find their own answer off the web somewhere. I was wondering if we should consider winding it up and moving on, or are you still finding this list valuable?
Alternatively, maybe we should wait and see what shakes out of this Adobe thing. Could be terrific for Shockwave, or just one more move away from Director.

Heh... you call yourself a programmer ;)?
Your nostalgia emails got me interested in the past - gotta love the wayback machine site. With all of the speculation about Dir's future after the merger, it was fun to get a glimpse of the past.
On that note, this list has slowed mightily. Doesn't anyone need our arcane knowledge anymore? Dir might die, but there are plenty of us still wiling to walk you through your problems with Lingo... where are the noobs? Speak up! We want to help you, and grow our community. Ask away!
