Then they've changed it because I recently checked and it specifically said
one or the other not both.

Yes and that's why I avoid using QuickTime--that and the fact that you have
to send them two copies of the final product before they give approval, and
you have to send them accounts of quantity shipped. If their not going to
go out of their way to make it easy to implement, I'll go out of my way to
avoid using it--it's that simple. It's a shame because QuickTime is a very
robust a useful technology, but Apple seems to be set upon killing it.
Between hassling developers with licensing issues and hassling users with
their free and pro versions they certainly give me enough reasons to use
something else. It doesn't make a lot of sense considering we're trying to
help them increase their install base and they're making it harder for us.

With the next Director upgrade and the new video capabilities of Flash
QuickTime is about to become a distant memory for me(and I'm sure many
others). Like I said it's a shame but they brought it on themselves.

It was very smart of Macromedia to ease up their requirements--I'm sure a
few people here remember when they were much worse (actually about the same
as QuickTime), but I still think they should relax them further. We as
developers know what technology we are going to use and 99.9% of the time
the end user couldn't possibly care less what technology was used as long as
it works for them.

What does Macromedia really hope to accomplish by putting their logo in
front of our end users? Is the housewife, or teenager that's looking at the
CD I just made going to run out and buy all the Macromedia stock they can
once they see the Macromedia logo and they're forced to wait four seconds
before Quit actually quits. It seems the only thing their accomplishing is
annoying their developers. It's really not that big of a deal any more, but
I just find it frustratingly illogical.

rant off (sorry if read through this whole thing),
