Hi Oliver...
Since you have a lot more flexibility than I understood with your initial
posting
and you're working with NT/2000 *definitely* go with DirectMediaXtra from
Tabuleiro (www.tabuleiro.com). Site is good with a couple of very
informative
white papers and can point you in the right direction.
If your firm is willing to preconfigure the machines they're sending out (I
understood
they're providing complete solutions? i.e. software and PC) go with a
hardware
MPEG-2 decoder - RealMagic or the one from CreativeLabs (can't remember the
name
but should be easy to dig up). A software MPEG-2 decoder could also be used
(e.g.
MediaMatic DVDExpress) although this demands more of the machine (read fast
PC).
HTH = Hope That Helps ;)

Subject: AW: <lingo-l> Josie.. MPEG with D8 on WINDOWS
Hi Josie,
We are working on win2000/NT systems and the SoftPeg unfortunately doesnt
work with that(bought the softpeg NT version -> nothing happened on NT. The
MPEg-2s couldnt be played.).
The Onstage CD Xtra would provide the flexibility if it (or an embedded
decoder) worked on win2000. But the main requirement is high quality. The
company where I do the practical part (in Germany engeneering students
usually do the diplomas in cooperation with firms) produces
digital-audiovisions with DV implemented in one application with director.
As the still pictures are hq a bad video quality is obsolete. So MPEG-2
seems to be the best choice. Flexibility is secondary because Von Aichberger
& Roenneke (where i work) usually sells whole presentations including
demonstrator.
Producing standalone Cds of the audiovisions would be the next step.
HTH (<- whats that?!)
Oliver
