It does sound like film loops are the way to go. The interaction is really
pretty simple in most cases. I'll just have to put in some code to notify
me when the film loop reaches the last frame so I can stop it (that is,
swap a static bitmap member into the sprite--I don't think you can actually
stop a film loop).
