Small comment - it's funny you refer to Windows 95.. Way back in 1988, I used to use a little application called DESQView (for DOS 3.31), on my 386-20 (4mb ram!) for multitasking. I ran a bulletin board system in the background while doing programming/word processing in a separate window, and any DOS maintenance in another window. It was quite handy! It may not have been 'true' multitasking, but from the users' perspective it certainly was.
