It IS, in fact, normal for CPU usage to shoot up to 100% when a projector runs. The Director playback engine is designed to take away all the free processor time available. It does so in anticipation that the next frame will have a processor intensive calculation to perform. Note however, that it takes away only free time, and very kindly returns it to other applications that request it. So I wouldn't be too bothered about what the taskmanager says on my machine.
