Is it an asset (avi, quicktime, Flash) that's stuttering or is it parts of your Director based animation? Often times when I'm on a laptop (don't know about a workstation on this, never tried it), Windows platform, if the network card is plugged in but not on the network, avi's, mp3's, and a whole bunch of other stuff skip and stutter, and flake out in general. So, if your client's machine matches that profile, try just popping out the network card (which should be fairly easy to do). btw - this is a windows bug, not director/lingo - it happens as often (and predictably) in Winamp w/ mp3s as it does w/ Projectors. (I *think* (emph on "think") it relates to Win trying to obtain a IP addy from the DHCP Server and getting no response...when network card is popped out of the machine, Win. doesn't try.)
Let me know if there's more background on your environment...
