Hi Dave,

In SG24-5669-00, MP3000 Basic Emulated I/O Definitions, in Topic 2.5
OS/390 SNA With LANs we can read:
OS/390 VTAM can be connected to a LAN adapter, for SNA operations. If
token ring adapters are used, the same adapter can be used for TCP/IP
(either OS/2 or OS/390) and the SNA connection. If Ethernet adapters are
used, these typically cannot be shared. <===A little 25 by the period
refers us to a footnote that goes like:
This is because of DIX vs IEEE802.3 considerations. SNA is usually
IEEE802.3 and TCP/IP is typically DIX. The OS/2 low-level drivers cannot
use both protocols at the same time on the same adapter.

So... I would not swear it but I believe that you cannot share the
"built-in" or any of the other ethernet adapters between SNA for OS/390
and TCP/IP for the SE own use.

I have installed several MP3000s with differing configurations but never
tried what you are proposing here. I guess you can try. You can't break
anything. You might just have to reconfigure back out of it.

Good luck.

No...my original question that started this thread was:

"Can I use the H70's "built in" ethernet card for both SNA to OS/390 and
for
the Support Element's(os/2)
TCP/IP protocol ?? "

I wasn't asking if I could share with an S390 TCPIP stack....
