One thing you can use it for is new webservices. We already have a webserver
under our VM system, but I am the only systems programmer and the only one
who can write safe CGIs for it. But under our Linux system with Apache, PHP,
MySQL, we have half a dozen application programmers writing dynamic web
pages with a database backend and all of it is automatically backed up for
file-level restores or full disaster recovery.

Subject: How to use Linux/S390

"Inquiring minds want to know."

Please help!
Management wants to know how we can use Linux/S390.

We have OS/390 V2.10, CICS/TS 1.3, IMS/VS DB V6.1.0, DB/2 V6.1.0 on 9672-R76

and MS Windows network. I have SuSE in one LPAR.

Other than "server consolidation", how can (or why should) we use
Linux/S390?

Thanks,
    Craig
