Websphere costs to much, $35K X 7 = $245K. And Websphere runs on other
platforms so doesn't necessitate Linux/390.
We already have DB2 on OS/390 and I'm guessing DB2 for Linux/390 would also
be $ times 7.

Subject: Re: How to use Linux/S390
I'm currently investigating running Enterprise DB2 Connect for L-390 .
Might be viable alternative from maintenance and possible tuning aspects as
opposed to solely supporting myriad of individual desktop versions. There
is no USS version, so if you have a "want" to put it on MF hardware, L-390
your only option.
Use L-390 as deployment vehicle for housing and distributing your DB2 PC
support products and maintenance.
Use L-390 as BookServer for docs and PDFs.
Install websphere and use to allow web access to db2 data.

Subject: How to use Linux/S390
"Inquiring minds want to know."
Please help!
Management wants to know how we can use Linux/S390.
We have OS/390 V2.10, CICS/TS 1.3, IMS/VS DB V6.1.0, DB/2 V6.1.0 on 9672-R76
and MS Windows network. I have SuSE in one LPAR.
Other than "server consolidation", how can (or why should) we use
Linux/S390?
Thanks,
Craig
