There is only one kind of processor in IBM's mainframes. It can be
configured for several different uses.

CP - Central Processor runs any workload
IFL - Integrated Facility for Linux run Linux workloads and z/VM
       workloads in support of Linux
SAP - System Assist Processor runs Licensed Internal Code (LIC)
in support of various functions including I/O (you get these
as part of the base price, but in certain configurations can
       pay for additional SAPs)
ICF - Integrated Coupling Facility runs LIC and is used in support
of Parallel Sysplex configurations running z/OS
zAAP - zSeries Assist Processor is and "adjunct" processor for z/OS
       Java workloads (z890/z990 only)

Configurations
- z/OS partitions can include CPs and zAAPs
- VSE/ESA partitions can include CPs
- z/VM and Linux partitions can include CPs OR IFLs (not both in
  the same partition

The hardware instructions which provide configuration information
(such at STSI) show ONLY the installed CPs (not the other types).
