One more thing. If you get Slack390 installed and working I would be curious to know
if you can get "gdm" working. I attempted to run an x-server from my Windows machine
that would connect to "gdm" running on Slack390 under Hercules. I could not get this
to work. Mark Post worked with me on this. But we were never able to determine what
the problem was, i.e. user error!

I installed Slack390 9.1 and was able to connect to the "gdm" server. I'd like to
know if someone else has the problem with 10.0.

Mark pointed out that running "gdm" on a mainframe is not a good use of Linux on 390.

I don't know the answer to your question but I'm curious as to which
Slack390 you're attempting to use, 9.0, 9.1, or 10.0?

I'm running Slack390 9.1 on the Hercules 390 emulator. I'm using ctc0 for
my network connection. I think Hercules has LCS support, but from what
I've read it's not too goo.
