Hi Tobias,
would you please post what kernel version the guest is running (cat
/proc/version) and which function is doing
that? (the address closest below 20001 hex in /proc/ksyms or
/proc/kallsyms)
Do you have a CPU #0? If not, please verify if the problem disappears when
you have a linear CPU enumeration
(0...1...2...3...).
Would you please verify what happens when you issue "poweroff" as
superuser command?
PS: Your zipl.conf is fine, that's a kernel problem.
with kind regards
Carsten Otte

Subject: Problems using SIGNAL SHUTDOWN
Hi list,
i have got some strange effects on using SIGNAL SHUTDOWN.
Guest console shows following output:
md: stopping all md devices.
Power down.
01: HCPGIR450W CP entered; disabled wait PSW 00020001 80000000 00000000
00000FFF
02: HCPGSP2629I The virtual machine is placed in CP mode due to a SIGP
stop
from CPU 02.
01: HCPSIG2112I Signal timeout interval has expired
Is somebody out there who can tell me why this stupid guest does not
logoff
?
zipl.conf looks like:
[defaultboot]
default=ipl
[ipl]
target=/boot/zipl
image=/boot/kernel/image
ramdisk=/boot/initrd
parameters= dasd=200-204 root=/dev/dasdb1 vmpoff="LOGOFF"
[dumpdasd]
target=/boot/zipl
dumpto=/dev/dasd??
[dumptape]
target=/boot/zipl
dumpto=/dev/rtibm0
inittab entry looks like this:
# receive SIGINT from z/VM shutdown
ca:0123456:ctrlaltdel:/sbin/shutdown -t1 -h now
Any help appreciated.
Regards,
Tobias Doerkes
