Funny you should mention that, Rick.
Yes, Leland Lucius ported the ext2fs file system code from Linux over to CMS. There is now a Rexx interface to the ext2fs file functions, as well.
After linking to a Linux minidisk (in r/w mode, btw) a CMS Rexx exec can navigate directories, open files, r/w them, change file permissions, create symbolic links, copy files to/from Linux to CMS (in either binary or ASCII modes), etc., etc.. Of course, all of the usual minidisk sharing rule apply here (i.e., it's a very good idea (tm) if the Linux guest image that owns this file system be logged off), and it only works for the ext2fs file system, not ext3fs, or any of the journaling f/s.
I'll be giving a talk on this new package (now renamed to the simpler "E2") at this month's MVMUA user's group meeting in NYC. Now you all have an excellent excuse to come to New York in January.
While the package isn't generally available for download off of the net, because of a lack of adequate testing and documentation, the package is open-source and anybody wanting a copy can e-mail me directly.

Lucius wrote an EXT2 tool that works on CMS. Dunno the details, but I believe it is possible to copy files from EXT2 into CMS land, even manipulate an EXT2 FS from CMS.
