Yes, the network interface is working. I run a few Linux guests (SLES9) through the VSwitch as we speak. I made sure none of them were active while attempting the install. In fact, even though I received the HCPIPN2833E message during the install boot process, all of the pings the process does worked fine.
We ran into this problem when we were installing SLES9 last year, but got around it by pointing to a different OSA (I have 4). That "different" OSA is the one I am attempting to use right off the get-go this time. None of the OSAs I have are working with the install this time. Your previous response mentioned the possibility of maintenance needed by zVM. Can you shed further light on that subject? Thanks for your interest and assistance.
