Make sure to define your criteria right and have performance measurements in place. You can probably measure maximum throughput with your Mickey Mouse watch, but that's not the only thing that matters. With Linux on z/VM it is often more interesting to measure resource usage (cost) for operating at acceptable response time. So mileage rather than top speed. When you have sufficient other work to run on z/VM, you probably don't want to double resource usage for just 5% extra throughput.
