I am facing the same problem and I was not able to determine the reason.
But i solved this issue by copying the right file during autoyast stage2 from
autoyast.xml

I think the the whole layer2 thing is not well implemented in SLES10.
And i checked my SLES10 SP2 docs: OSAHWaddr in not mentioned.
