Hi, we are trying at add an additional private network for our TSM backups to our z/VM and zLinux systems. They are currently connected to our public network. We added two additional OSA ports for the TSM private network which are connected to a switch and the TSM servers are also connected to the same switch. These are the steps that were taken:
* We defined a VSWITCH called TSMSWTH as a layer 2 vswitch and granted access to the Linux guests. Below is the output of the query vswitch command. q vswitch tsmswth VSWITCH SYSTEM TSMSWTH Type: QDIO Connected: 13 Maxconn: INFINITE PERSISTENT RESTRICTED ETHERNET Accounting: OFF VLAN Unaware MAC address: 02-00-01-00-00-03 MAC Protection: Unspecified State: Ready IPTimeout: 5 QueueStorage: 8 Isolation Status: OFF Uplink Port: RDEV: A018.P01 VDEV: A018 Controller: VSPCTRL4 BACKUP RDEV: A708.P00 VDEV: A708 Controller: VSPCTRL1 * We updated the user direct and added with the NICDEF statement to the Linux guests. * We rebooted the Linux guest and created another eth device in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ethx and updated it with the following statements and rebooted again. cat ifcfg-eth0 DEVICE="eth0" BOOTPROTO="static" BROADCAST="10.255.230.255" GATEWAY="10.255.32.1" IPADDR="10.255.32.175" MTU="" NETMASK="255.255.254.0" NETTYPE="qeth" ONBOOT="yes" OPTIONS="layer2=1" SUBCHANNELS="0.0.0800,0.0.0801,0.0.0802" After all of this I still cannot ping the 10.255.32.1 address. I can still connect to our public network but not to this network. What am I missing?
