I do not have sendmail running but I do have smb. I disabled smb and the
same thing occurs.

Start diald on boot with named not being started and no modem startup. Now
start named
and modem starts.

No matter which combo of starting diald or named, whichever is later seems
to trigger the modem.

Where now guys.? I have read all the appropriate How-To's without any luck.
I setup named with the How-To. etc.

After the modem dies down, about 2.14 minutes later, all is ok. Its just
that startup of either diald or named, with the other already running that
is a problem. That number in the original message of 198.41.0.4/53 (without
the 53) is in the first position of named.ca that is used to do a DNS
lookup.

Thanks
