As of today (June 21, 11:52am EST) the current version in apt
(Stable/Etch) is 2.0.7-2. (see:
http://packages.debian.org/stable/admin/heartbeat-2 ).

Should this be updated today if the problem is resolved? If not, would I
be able to get a newer package from you (for testing)?

You need to add
http://software.opensuse.org/download/server:/ha-clustering/Debian_Etch/
as a repository first
