I am afraid I am not understanding that MRU you mention.

To my knowledge, on the TCPIP implementations I know you have mtu, 
that is, maximum transmission unit, and window, and maybe you have a 
too large WINDOW.

Usually ( I don't want to be absolute) you fill the window with mtu 
sized packets. That is, in numbers, with your mtu=256, if window is 
256, it equals maxframe 1. If window (I am afraid it is your case) is 
32768, divide 32768 / 256 and guess your maxframe. If large 
maxframes, like using maxframe 7 are termed at times to be 
antisocial, I am afraid that people in your neighboorhood must be 
thinking something I do not dare to say....check your window.
