Of I can't speak for any other country, but so far I've heard no
rumblings from the FCC, ARRL, or any other source that we are running
short of calls. Actually, what we are short of is calls in the 1x2
format, so I guess we just need a few more exclusive prefixes :^> To be
quite honest, we need about 10 times the hams we currently have in this
country before we're in danger of using about half our available
callsigns.
We are, however, in the process of restructuring our current licensing
which is a whole other kettle of fish...

P.S. Who "owns" the AX.25 protocol, and what is the process of fixing it
and having those changes recognized by major organizations like ARRL and
TAPR (or do they matter anymore?)?
