The callsign plus SSID is what makes up an AX.25 address (analogous
to an ethernet address).  So the source and destination callsigns end
up in every packet when using AX.25 (with the exception of unconnected-mode
packets which have some special destination address other than a callsign
indicating what kind of packet it is).  Additionally it is common practice
to ID every few minutes.  In some countries such as the UK they still
have to ID using morse code even on packet frequencies.
