Hi Hans,

I have the Viper V330 running under RH5.2 and XFree86. Did you get it
running yourself? I presume you're having trouble starting X.

The files generated by xconnfigurator didn't work very well for me.
I had to edit them manually. I'll send you mine but it is tuned to my
monitor too. However, maybe you can use the device part ...

Good luck,

Date: 02 Mar 1999 15:09:37 -0500

I have a:
Seageat TapeStore 8GB SCSI 2 drive.
On a AHA 2940 UltraWide
RedHat 5.2 Kernel 2.032.
Mt status reports SCSI 2
blocksize 512 Density 0x45 unknown
It will only hold about 900M. (Way short of the 4 Gig)
Tar exits with Exiting do to earlier error (no earlier error reported)
Dump asks for a new tape very early.
cpio does no better.

The various mt commands like rewind, status, retension seem to work

The rewind/norewind devices work as expected.

Just can't get 4 Gig on it.

Hmmm. You've tried all the different Matrox settings ? Generic Millennium or

Im not really sure if this discussion will take you anywhere, after all
if you have a net card you already have a component with unique identity
(mac number) which can be used to track you with a simple "arp".

you may run into some problems. if it says something about dependencies..
although it probably wont because you have 5.2 just type
rpm -Uvh --nodeps *rpm
make sure you do this from the root (/) dir

ok ... i fixed it. i had to edit the /etc/rc.d/rc.local file and install

/bin/setserial /dev/cua1 irq 3
/bin/setserial /dev/cua1 uart 16550A

depending on what devices you want installed will alter your outcome
this took care of the repititious problem

the second was that i was trying to use minicom as a ppp tool and that is no
luck. it just doesnt work.

sorry for my lame questions

I know this is a strange place to post, but we linux users seem to be
better at helping with anything.

I have an old acculogic scsi adapter and am now reinstalling windows,
but i have lost the driver disk. With acculogic gone from the face of
the earth (out of business?) i can't seem to find the drivers for my
isapport card. anyways, if anyone can dig up the windows driver disk
for it and e-mail it to me, that would be really cool. additionally,
any drivers that would be compatible with the NCRc506a chipset are
appreciated.

Thanks a bunch!!!
