As far as I know the 3c905 was always supported by the 59x driver, with
the 3c905 driver provided by 3com themselves. So it was never part
of the core linux kernel, at least for the 2.2 kernels. I don't know
what the situation with the 2.4 kernels is.

Did you edit the file /etc/sane.d/epson.conf?
Mine looks like this:
#scsi EPSON
# /dev/scanner
usb /dev/usbscanner0
I have an EPSON 1200U. Configuration is nearly the same as yours.

I configured my HP laserjet4 with printtool, using the HP Laserjet
4/5/6 drivers. When I print an ASCII file now I get:
"No way to print this type of input file: fsav (linux) virus (8293-117)"
Then if I vi the file and add an empty line at the top & bottom, it
prints fine.
Suggestions?

First, make sure it's the HDD. Put a rod (long screwdriver ?)
against your ear and in contact with the side of the drive when you
hear the noise you describe. If the sound is amplified, then it's your
drive. Otherwise it's prob'ly a fan somewhere in your case. I had an
old WD that started making a similar noise, it was the begining of the
end for it.

Actually, I believe it is part of kernel source. I've been using it for
some time with no problems whatsoever.

I just purchased an ATI Radeon DDR 64mb and installed XFree86 ver 4.0.2
and had a
horrible time, so went back to my ATI Rage 128. There are no driver
support for
this card in the database supplied with the configuration file, even
though
Xfree86 org states this upgrade is for this card. I am e-mailing this
organization to find out what I did wrong and to correct this problem
Hope this helps

does anyone know anything about linux support for an intel pro/dsl 2100
internal pci modem? I looked around, but couldn't find anything. A friend
of mine has one and is wanting to switch to linux, but the modem doesn't
seem to be supported.

What is the source of the ASCII file? It might be that the filter
that printtool installed does not recognize the line endings or
accented characters.... Keep in mind that Linux uses a Line Feed
(^J, 11 ASCII) to end a line, Max use a Carraige Return (^M, 13 ASCII),
and DOS/Windows machines (last I looked) use a CR/LF pair.

It's not Linksys. I have 4 Linksys cards and never had any problem getting
them running.
Try these 5 simple steps:
Get the latest tulip src.rpm from this location:
ftp.scyld.com/pub/network/netdriver-2.1.src.rpm
rpm -i netdriver-2.1.src.rpm
cd /usr/src/redhat
rpm -bb SPECS/netdriver.spec
rpm -i --force RPMS/i386/netdriver-2.1-*.i386.rpm

you just need to set your file permissions for the serial port (/dev/ttySX,
X depending on which serial port it is). As far as which man to check, I
guess go for chmod if you need to.

There is no support. Intel won't do drivers, and won't help those who
wanted to. Ethernet modem is pretty much the only option.

I have gotten it with SuSE before with no problems. On debian potato, I
always recompile the kernel from what they give. So I always end up having
to get ide-scsi emulation support by recompiling.

Greetings all:
I am attempting to get my Lexmark Z42 printer to work with my slack 7.1
box. I have followed all the 'HowTo' examples I could find
as well as attempted to use the /usr/lib/apsfilter/SETUP utility (could
not determine which driver to use).
I did find a driver that appears to work on the Lexmark site, but am
not sure how to set this up. (Using the Lexmark
configuration GUI, I am able to print a test page but am unsure how to
use this driver any other way) Any help would be
appreciated!
