Hi,

I recently bought a IIyama Vision Master Pro 410 (A702HT). I want to use
this screen with linux but I have no XF86config file for this screen. If
someone here can give a XF86Config file for this device, it would help me a
lot.

Thank you in advance

In my experience so far, the only usb cameras I've found which give
non-crappy image quality are the Philips ones, and then not the
bottom of the range offerings. Check for CCD imagers rather than CMOS -
the latter are usually poor quality. Many omit an IR cut filter,
giving awful color in daylight.

Subject: pcmcia problem
Date: 14 Mar 2001 12:16:13 +0100

I'm trying to get a Lucent Oronico (Wavelan 802.11b) card working
inLinux (actually from a boot floppy), and I'm having some trouble.

I'm trying to use the wvlan_cs driver in the ewest pcmcia package.

Kernel 2.4.2.
(I don't have the config here at the moment (it's at home) but I have
tested a kernel both with and without kernel pcmcia support.)

I lode the pcmcia_core, i82365 and ds modules (as in the startup
scripts provided) and these seem to load ok and the pcmcia controller is
detected and identified correctly.

Now I've tried several variations of the following just to check, but
basically both cadrmgr and cardctl return the following when I run
then while the card is iserted (or, in the case of cardmgr, if I
insert the card afterwords):

cs: unable to map card memory!
cs: unable to map card memory!
cardmgr[19]: unsupported card in socket 0
cardmgr[19]: no product info availible

cardctl ident gives basically the same errors, but this in addition:

cs: no high memory space availible

This last message sort of makes sense, but I don't know where to look.

Btw. the hardware is working properly. i've tried it on a laptop
(where I'm currently using the card under win2k) and on a desktop with
a ISA to PCMCIA adapter.

Any suggestions anyone?

thanks

Hans-Christian

Thanks John! Unfortunately LILO 21.7, although able to handle the large
number of cylinders of my HDs, only supports RAID 1 boot partitions and
I'm using RAID 0. :-(

That's what I use(d) - modprobe ne io=0x300
(or-whatever-the-hex-io-address-is).

What do you mean "supported under RedHat and Mandrake". This is
kernel/module stuff, not distro-dependent.

The problem is that i can run my A702HT in 1024x768 @ 100Hz in Windows and
the hsync and vsync for this mode are not specified in the monitor
documentation. Is there a tool to generate a XF86Config file from windows ?
I just want to have the same graphic mode in linux as in windows. no more,
no less.

This comes to you from an old DEC Prioris. This one is a dual 166,
but you can find dual or quad PIIIs or PPros. Solid, reliable, just
works, and cheap. Payed ~$100 for 3.

I would *strongly* suspect hardware. I assume that you've tried multiple
tapes, so it must be either the drive or the SCSI card. Hook the drive onto
another machine, and hang something else off of the SCSI controller.
Pound the #$!* out of both configs and let us know what happens.

And for $DEITY's sake, find a suitable goat this time.

I am using Red Hat 7.0 with a Panasonic CD RW.
As this version of Red Hat has already the ide-scsi moudule in the =
/lib/modules/2.2.16-22/scsi, I only need to load this module (the scsi =
emulator) and am able to use the Xcdroast.

To load the module: /sbin/insmod /lib/modules/2.2.16-22/scsi/ide-scsi.o
Then run xcdroast as root.

After burnig the CD, I type the command: /sbin/rmmod ide-scsi to unload =
the module.

Happy Linuxing!

Sorry, but for the modem you're SOL. I have the same laptop, and the

As for PCMCIA cards, any plain modem card should work just fine.

Ok, I've cruised all the search engines, gone back through old posts,
and read everything I can find about this card.

The only information I can find regarding this card is promise'
instructions for installing at setup time.

I'm looking to move an existing single ide drive to a "hardware"
mirror on this controller and boot from it. The single drive will then
come out.

This is a lightly-used system hosting a small mailing list, so
performance is not an issue here.

I'm thinking what I'll end up having to do is install the system,
include the promise driver in that system, then save the kernel for
use after the existing data is copied over.

An awful lot of configuration stuff went into getting this machine
together originally, I sure don't want to have to go through that
again.

So, can anyone offer any tips with getting the promise raid running on
an existing system? The promise web site is less than helpful.

Thanks a bunch!,

A new Linux driver is now being released by Alcatel for it's Speed
Touch USB modem - available in March 2001, which is currently being
used by BellSouth for DSL access.

Here is the announcement

I think a lot of us have been waiting for this.
