Well, I digged a bit further inside the Alcatel specs - it supports G.dmt 
which is what bezeq is using (they also use ANSI in some of their "merkazot") 
- so I don't think you'll need to change firmware.

It seems there are some really good offers at ebay - I saw onee for $15, one 
for $40, which means including shipping it will cost you less then to buy it 
from Bezeq..
