Because on top of all the FUD that is directed at Linux, we _do_ have to be extra
careful about not be labelled as
harboring crackers or wannabe crackers on the list.

This has less to do with the sysadmins, particularly in case of VSNL/DoT it has all to
do with not a having a clear,
official policy to deal with spammers, of not having an AUP designed to be anti-UCE.
I do not want some one peeking in to my mail box as

The root a/c being "offered on a platter" as you put it is not the same thing as
Sibayan had originally posted as
having tried the stuff many times over and on multiple servers. I gather that you do
keep track of comp. sec.mailing
lists. Since you express your concern about VSNL/DoT users, who as you rightly say
should get a more secure service,
may I point it out that Sibayan had ***never*** bothered to inform VSNL sysadmins
about the prevailing situations as he
had found them in. However in this case I am willing to give Sibayan the benefit of
doubt in his favor, although it is
rather difficult to do so.

Sure, but then "his house" is "his property"... in other words private to the
individual concerned... there /are/ laws
against trespassing, leave alone stealing in most parts of the civilized world. And
you don't necessarily make a Robin
Hood out of a burgler.
