[LIH] Problem with Xwindows after installing Star office.

I installed Star Office from the Feb Chip CD (as root). After the installation,
Xwindows will not start as any user except root. 

The error message is:
Cannot connect to console
perhaps you do not have ownership of the console?

Its a single box (no network). Any ideas why this is happening and how to solve
it?
