I am afraid but when the security of a system is under
risk, installing an anti-virus package is better.
Viruses have not been an entity in the past, but they
ARE going to be a part of the future. There was a link
to it on slashdot recently. Some guy has actually
taken the pains to write a paper on it. Looking from a
programmer point of view, if viruses could be written
in DOS, they can be written in Linux too. The only
problem would be that since Linux runs on multiple
architectures, binary code will not execute on
architectures other than that on which the virus was
written with, but if u look in a way, the root scripts
are some sort of virus, as in a networked system,
getting control of a system is better than destroying
it.
