But what about the rest? Dont u think its wrong to
advice that its not worth upgrading? Sorry if my goal
happens to be to promote Linux, but i kinda like the
idea of Linux taking over the desktop market. No
commercial interest in here (heck i'm 17). I think
games form an important part in this market. Its
really sad that u're card doesn't get an acceleration
benefit, but the DRI allows for further progress in
this field. But various chipsets do have increased
performance. I've myself checked this out on a Cirrus
Logic, Banshee, SiS, Matrox, Permedia2 and an S3. I
think others will too show some increased performance.
And i actually have noticed an increase in quality on
my Banshee. i know this sounds ridiculous, but its
true. I myself couldn't believe it. Either
enlightenment is using some new features with the new
X server, or its something else, because, i had the
same screen running on one tty on XF 3.3.5, and
another tty on XF 4.0, and things on XF4 looked
better, with much more clarity. I dont have to believe
me on that. I think X in its own native self goes a
long way from preventing Linux to be branded as a
STRICT server OS. I think this release has a lot to do
with pushing X into various other avenues.
